Plans are rolling along nicely at the moment, Got a pretty much guaranteed bonus and payrise at the end of October, which should cover getting the car finished, pay off my credit card and enough for a holiday. no, she is on a three year contract on one of my research projects.I can't put a hold on the project. therefore I need a replacement for the period she is on ML. Even if I did put a hold on the project, the Uni is obliged to pay 3 years salary (the money from the grant) plus 6 months ML (from their own pocket) whichever way it works. So despite the fact not putting a hold actually saves them money on an inflationary basis, I still have to write a massive justification regarding why I want to do it, and then be grilled by a committee as to why it's "best for the university"
I don't think "it doesn't make a cock of difference, why are you wasting my fucking time" is an acceptable response, sadly.
