ShopliftingWhen I was young and impressionable and on holiday in France, I followed some friends into a sweet shop and we each stole something. I was so mortified by this, I returned them.
My lack of French hampered this somewhat - they had no idea why the small English boy wanted to add some chews to the open box, and saw it as an attempt by a nasty foreigner oik to contaminate their stock. Not my best day.

Cat toysThere was a DIY shop in my town centre (it's closed now) that had a pets section. They sold little furry toy mice for cats, in white and grey. I nicked a white one one day, for no apparent reason. We had 2 cats at the time and they never got a sniff of it. However, my mam did. She was really miffed and told me to take it back.
I told her I took it back. Technically I did, it just didn't leave my pocket while I was there. But it acquired a lovely grey friend. :)
