joeyThe term "joey" comes from Joey Deacon, a disabled old man who was used by Blue Peter to spearhead a fund-raising campaign. Rather unsurprisingly, the names "joey" and "deacon" were susequently used by (mainly) kids to inform a person of his or her alleged spastic characteristics.
I thought we were looking for new slang. This is years old!
