'lardaholics anonymous' was bored and started a new question over in the old question, so the least we can do is make it official. What with New Year's celebrations coming up, asking for the strangest place you have slept is nicely appropriate too.
In case you are wondering, Portsmouth beach in the fog. Very strange waking up to that.

Kid you not. Possibly scariest moment of my life.
I used to be heavily into a cult (that's not a typo - check the Cults QOTW from way back) when I lived in Brum. As a poor but fit student, I would bike all over the city. On one occasion I was up for two nights straight building up to a crashing dive from one of my more manic peaks, and had to bike from Selly Oak to Erdington at 5am for a get-together with the church leader.
It was pitch black and I had no lights, but I was a cheeky fucker on the bike back then and quick as hell.
The details of the journey are a little hazy - bypassing the city centre by taking canal paths and pedestrian routes, avoiding big fucking multi-lane roads where possible - but there was a point somewhere around the Aston Expressway where I was really fighting my eyelids. I kept squeezing them shut and opening them to relieve the weight, and found myself riding blind for longer and longer...
It was the headlights of the oncoming artic-lorry that woke me, still coasting at high speed on my bike, a good hundred metres or so further on than the last time I opened them, still miraculously on the path facing the sparse oncoming traffic, and pant-shittingly aware that I had been asleep on my bike on a very very major road at twilight with no lights.
Suffice it to say that I didn't have trouble staying awake the rest of the way. Gives me the sweats just thinking about it again.
