This is a question Worst Band Ever

If I was in charge of the B3ta fatwa department, we wouldn't be hearing too much from Simply Red in the future. Who's on your musical shit list and why?

I'll listen to most anything.
From Madonna to Rob Zombie, to Scooter, to ELO to Prince, to Frankie goes to hollywood, Florence and the machine, ...

The only thing that really annoys me is covers, where talentless artists murder a perfectly servicable pop-record.

Any covers that have particularly upset you?

Nelly Futardo just recently covered 'Time Stand Still' by Rush
ugh.

There was really no need.

Leona Lewis covering Snow Patrol
There can be nothing worse than some tawdry vacuous pisspop wannabe droning out an already insipid soulless sexless dirge of a record.

Excellent point
Boyzone and Westlife were particularly adept at murdering other peoples songs.

Ronan Keiting
Fairytale of New York.

He should be shot.

Totally agree.
Beating to death with a shovel is a better option though.

X-Factor - Heroes
Hate it.
(, Mon 3 Jan 2011, 14:10, closed)
There are many covers that infuriate me
but the worst of all had to be All Saints murdering Under the Bridge, and about 100% of Glee covers - especially Can't Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon.

Louise Redknapp + "Stuck in the middle with you"
vile to all 5 senses.
(, Mon 3 Jan 2011, 14:17, closed)

Youuuu got the laaaarrrve

Anything that needs an "uplifting" moment like an X Factor montage, or a montage before / after the grand prix on BBC. And inbetween the adverts on the footy. FUCK OFF YOU SLAG

Do they still play it every hour on 6Music?

(, Mon 3 Jan 2011, 17:26, closed)
anything
that weaselly Mark Ronson ever butchered. I wanted to cry when I heard 'Stop Me.'
(, Mon 3 Jan 2011, 14:22, closed)
I not overly keen of most versions of Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)*
but The Wedding Present's version is top.

*Double points for getting the brackets

Madonna: American Pie
No more needs to be said.

That 'The Climb' thing
that some XFactor muppet (Joe McElderry - I've just googled it) covered from a Miley Cyrus original.

1) Extremely cynical in the same year the original was released
2) Even the original's shit - so why cover it

Also, lest we forget, Mel C doing Anarchy in the UK:

They should have been rolled in broken glass
and dipped in piss for that crime against humanity.

hard.

The Braids - Bohemian Rhapsody
Never a clearer case for cyanide in the cornflakes.

Any cover of 'Creep' by Radiohead
And it's not because I'm a massive Radiohead fan or anything, it's just that they're inevitably a pile of dribbly, whiny wank.
(, Mon 3 Jan 2011, 17:21, closed)
^This
There now even is a version in GERMAN. Now I am German and I sure don't mind hearing German songs, but Creep - by a German COUNTRY music singer - crossed the line. No, it actually didn't even see the line.

This should have been a QOTW
Fucking DJ fucking Sammy - Boys of Summer.

Everything
that bint on the CSL adverts sings.
Regardless of whether I like the original songs or not her voice really gets on my nerves.

All of the X-Twattor singles, But Alexandra Burke's "Hallelujah" the most.
They should have just stopped with Cohen's and Buckley's versions. Can't get much better than those, in my opinion.

It was on the radio at work the other day. I nearly killed someone.

KD Lang
Does a surprisingly good version of this..
(, Tue 4 Jan 2011, 8:37, closed)
you dont like covers?
Can really be that into Florence and the Machine then?
(, Tue 4 Jan 2011, 8:56, closed)
whoever covered "light my fire"
in the first you've got talent/idol/whatever the fuck it was

I don't know his name, but it made me want to turn myself inside out and feed myself to a mincemeatmaker
(, Tue 4 Jan 2011, 9:20, closed)
Now I like covers....
...IF they do something different / original / unexpected with it.

A cover that sounds just like the original - or a soulless, bowdlerized, supermarket-muzak version of the original - now THAT really pisses me off.
(, Tue 4 Jan 2011, 11:14, closed)
this^
some do come across really rather well, but if you're just trying to sound exactly the same, what's the point?

Duran Duran
Once covered 911 Is A Joke by public enemy...I'll try and find it, it is truly shit but amusing with it...You can imagine how many problems the likes of Simon Le Bon get when they are waiting for their ambulance or police car in the ghetto -
