if you have mo and are so inclined...

I need links to posts or threads (or cleared transcripts of chats) that show people's reactions to Jerry Springer - The Opera

If you've just been at one or have seen one, could you please bookmark it and/or email?

Dia anyone see it?
They said it contained over 8000 swear words - I believe this was impossible, as it was a two hour program meaning there must have been 1.1111111 swear words a second, even in the credits
(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 0:45, archived)
ah, but more than one person was singing at a time
8000 seems about right

and it was fantastic
(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 0:46, archived)
it was rather splendid wasn't it?

(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 0:49, archived)
can't think what could have caused offence at all
apart from all the words.

funniest thing i've seen for years
(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 0:51, archived)
i agree...
i think most of the people who were offended hadn't even watched it and if you *were* going to be offended by swearing and the religious imagery you had plenty of warnings...
it makes me want to complain about songs of praise, but i don't need to as fortunately i'm smart enough to just turn the tv off
(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 0:57, archived)
you know, I have actually *been* to a pigsty
and I *can* tell you that it stinks...

furthermore, I can be so precise as to pinpoint the *cause* of the stink.... but only because I was there to witness it.

i think the preemptive moral outrage
just made it all the funnier while i was watching it, the thought of all the apoplexies going on elsewhere ...
(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 1:01, archived)
well as i'm easily offended
i took great offence at it, how dare they make jokes about such serious subject matter
it was great though, better live

If anyone heard Matt Lucas interviewed
on Radio 4 last Thursday he said something very valid here about people who were offended by the Little Britain show.
He said that most people were offended or complained on behalf of other people. Most were not offended themselves.
I think this is true in this case too.
(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 1:01, archived)
i was listening to him
and i think you are spot on.

there is probably a bit of small minded "well if those muslims can complain about that play the other day...", going on, too.
(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 1:04, archived)
That was because the reports that included this number
were counting every individual time someone swore, so if the entire cast (20? 30 people?) sang a swear word it counted as 20/30ish.
(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 0:47, archived)
The
'Cunting Cunting Cunt' part was fantastic.
(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 0:49, archived)
i suspected you would be
giggling like a lord
(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 0:51, archived)
I was indeed.
And I loved Jesus' wobbly manboobs.
And the tap-dancing Klu Klux Klan was one of the finest pieces of entertainment I have ever seen.

Inbred three-nipple cousin-fucker.
(, Sun 9 Jan 2005, 0:52, archived)
i had to go outside
to get my breath back, after the klan bit

and "grow up jesus and put some fucking clothes on" finished me off

Jerry Springer the Opera, eh?
It's been going for ages, and until the BBC announced they were going to show it on TV the Moral Minority decided to stay firmly in their closet.

Still, could be worse. We could be raping virgins in a Sikh Temple. That really would cause a riot. Probably.

Spaz back a page
and you'll find the posts
