All sweet here.
I've got a job interview on Monday and I'm shitting myself.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 19:23, archived)
save it for monday, the standard advice from talk about interviews is, have a shit on the desk, mind you that's the standard advice on most other matters too

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 19:25, archived)
I might turn the whole thing into one big Aristocrats sketch.

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 19:28, archived)
I got a couple on monday, had a couple today too.
Mate, I'm telling you, web dev is so fucking shit hot at the moment. I'm on page 3 of my emails (after deleting a few dozen) with interview offers, and my phone hasn't stopped ringing for 3 days.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 19:28, archived)
Software dev seems to be on the up at the minute, there's been fuck all for months and now I can't apply fast enough.

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 19:31, archived)
I've got THOUSANDS of interview for female body inspector

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 19:51, archived)
Tell me what you reckon you'd prefer, presuming they're all at the same money.
- Digital agency, with huge & interesting brands, has a "10% moto" (where you get 10% of your time to develop personal projects and use their resources). Relaxed working conditions but expect big results. Easy to get to.
- Video sharing site for corporate, doing all their social development.
- A netflix type thing for sports, where the idea is you get to chat online while watching them.
- A retail company's web presence.
- A publishing house with some of the best magazines you read.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 19:51, archived)
You've missed the crucial "none of the above" option here, gonz.

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 19:55, archived)
Really? They all sound good to me.

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:25, archived)
i'm glad i dont work in an office, i really couldn't cope

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 19:59, archived)
Damn right.

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:15, archived)
Horses'n'courses, I like the office enviroment most of hte time.

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:25, archived)
I love the office environment, but I much prefer a van-based environment
I love vans, me.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 21:03, archived)
The middle three all sound awful. I'd probably say the last one, because the top one will be full of hipsters and I'd end up decking someone.

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:02, archived)
There's not enough decking of hipsters in trendy webwank companies.
That's probably why we're in a recession.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:08, archived)
The good thing about the middle three is that I'll be able to put my real stamp on things and shape the way they work.
For me, the worst thing would be factory coding, as in, told what to do and that is all I can do.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:27, archived)
sounds awful
3rd one sounds like chatroulette, right up your street gonz
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:03, archived)
Haha.

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:27, archived)
I'd go for the publishing house personally.
Less likely to be full of geeks.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:41, archived)
I do like the idea of that one, they said that I can fit myself where I want with the 90 or soo magazines.
and there are some pretty cool magazines in there, food and video game ones would be good.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:51, archived)
"food" and "Video Games" - not a combination.

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:51, archived)
I've been racking my brains for a video game/food pun
but the best I could come up with was World of Warkraft Cheese Slice

I'm thinking it would probably be the most interesting work environment.
It looks to me like it has broader scope than the others.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 21:25, archived)
For me (as I'm not a dev, I just know a load of web stuff) probably #4 if I thought I could make a difference to their income
that's the sort of job i'm looking for
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:44, archived)
The downside on that is that there is only one site + web presense to look after, might possibly get a bit dull.
It's retail is specialist in photography on a consumer and highstreet level, so maybe there is something there with work with one of the online storidge areas, or even S3 hosting.... actually, I'm talking myself into this, sounds good.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 20:55, archived)
Oh sweet, these guys....
www.spreadshirt.co.uk/ ?

Looks good to me, they got what they call an APi too, devs love that shit.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 21:02, archived)
too much competition imo
probably bust within 2 years (*they're likely to go on to make millions and you'll curse the day you ever listened)
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 21:05, archived)
It might get boring as a dev. For you try to the digital agency, as you'll probably learn some decent disciplines
I'd like one where I could just run it, they give me an advertising budget per month, tell me what to sell and off I go.

How are you getting all these job offers?
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 21:02, archived)
though bd's point about hipsters is well founded

(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 21:12, archived)
I like the first one
although sounds like it would be like my last job - overtime is expected and you get given more work with no more pay.
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 21:19, archived)
good luck dedd!!!!
with your skillz you'll have all 5 stars in no time!
(, Fri 27 Apr 2012, 19:45, archived)
why would you be shitting? they need you, you dont need them, they always turn out to be cunts in the long run
