I mean it has a higher conductivity, of both heat and electricity.
Gold's nonreactivity gives it its advantages of course, especially in contacts which are exposed to the air. If you want a really useful metal though, go for copper or aluminium.

Maybe for 4th and 5th place finishes respectively?
They'd have to make the podiums bigger though, and some people might feel that copper is a little to close to bronze.
