I've had 2 Dualit toastersboth were rubbish. The first one was their £50 offering, it was a toaster that was all and it broke. As my first one broke, some kind person bought me as a gift the massive 4 slice £180 version. The same kind person, late one night, made a toasted cheese sandwich in it, filling it with melted cheese and it broke. I suspect the demise of the two toasters is connected.
However, that is not why they were rubbish the reasons they are rubbish are - they don't have a temperature control just a timer and no pop up contraption just a manual lift leaver handle thing. If you did ever guess the toast time right then the slice of toast got smashed to bits on the way out unless the bread was a perfectly sliced loaf. After a while the leaver thing stopped working due to the build up of crumbs and I suspect cheese grease. The only advantage to the darn things was at least the smoke detector got tested regularly.
I now have a tesco toaster and it works a treat.
