Home from the vet's now.
For the first time in as long as I can remember, my ignore list is now empty.

Now all I need is for my absent neighbour to come round and let me know I can pick up the parcel that postie delivered to his house last week.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 17:52, archived)
Smash your way in

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 18:00, archived)
There is always that option.
Especially as it's quite a large parcel so I'm sure he's keeping it in his shed.

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:06, archived)
i don't do it based on my own opinion as that seems a bit power crazy.
i'd have banned spanishfly from the planet if i could but nobody has properly complained about him.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:08, archived)
but he's such a nob

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:10, archived)
I think he should be banned because this place is not good for his mental health
He only ever gets upset on here, and needs a better outlet for his emotions. I don't know why he enjoys being the way he is, but it's not good.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:11, archived)
I don't get why you'd continue to use a forum where nobody wants you

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:12, archived)

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:18, archived)
Who complained about dozer? I can't see he's done anything wrong,as for the other one I'm complaining, get rid, he brings nothing to the forum, I put him on ignore years ago because of his attitude, as did many others, bin him

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:11, archived)
Part of me hopes it was spanf that complained about Doz

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:15, archived)
Probably was

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:16, archived)
not really something i can divulge
dozer frequently dragged real names into things, etc. it's not surprising people complained

Oh so my complaint counts for nothing? I see

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:18, archived)
well, i'm getting around to that now.
with the two in this subthread, that's probably enough to make a case. you undermined yours slightly by implying you just want to see him come back even more upset than before though
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:20, archived)
I bet if I took him of ignore I would get a torrent of abuse, because that's all it does , it has lead to a decline in posts for over 2 years now , and it will be funny when he goes mental but I assumed he'd be banned again after

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:24, archived)
I took him off ignore and got a whole lot of shit from him almost instantly

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 16:26, archived)
So he's changed then

There's some excellent passive aggression going on on my Facebook feed today.
A couple of friends who moved out of the region about a month ago are having a "thank you for the help with the move" party on Saturday, and she's just written "To the 80 people we invited, the 9 people who said they were coming and the 10 who said they might, our address is:...".

Aside from the fact that she's organising the event at her mum's place.

I had shingles when I was about 14
I remember using the Google of the day called Encarta '95 - and that said that if the shingles blisters were to go all the way around my waste and join together then i would die.

I cried.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:18, archived)
I thought shingles was an old persons thing.

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:24, archived)
Not always

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:26, archived)
It's a form of the chickenpox virus
So if you've had chickenpox at an early age you can get shingles
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:28, archived)
Yeah, I knew it was a chickenpox thing,
I for some reason thought it was just adults. Maybe because my dad had it and it was super nasty.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:30, archived)
Yeah my mum was in her mid 50's when she got it
Took her months to get over it
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:33, archived)
I thought shingles are what you put on a roof.

Felt like being hoofed repeatedly in the back
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:22, archived)
What is pleurisy?

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:24, archived)
Some form of chest lurgy
You cough up tons of white gunk and it can apparently leave you with scarred lungs
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:26, archived)

Fluid on the lungs.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:27, archived)
I have pleurisy right now, have had for months since my pneumonia

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:26, archived)
Horrible. Isn't it?

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:29, archived)
Awful. I think I have had it now for about 6 months
They gave me tramadol but I overdosed on them and had a seizure.

The girlfriend had to call an ambulance and I woke up in hospital.

Needless to say I am no longer prescribed tramadol
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:49, archived)
I got amoxicyllin
Which is when I found out i am very allergic to the damn stuff
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:52, archived)

The most unfashionable lurgy I've had is probably mumps.
That was crap, that was.

Where did your apprentice go that resulted in him getting scabies anyway?
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:23, archived)
He said he was in manchester.

Lad in my school had it
Supposedly it was caused by his habit of wiping his nose across the back of his hand
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:31, archived)
I had that. One of my bollocks swelled to the size of a lemon.

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:33, archived)
Phwoar.
I had cheeks like a hamster for a week and getting from the bed to the kitchen involved a ten-minute crawl.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:39, archived)
I had that before the bollock thing.
I had to buy a pair of supportive briefs and walked like John Wayne.

I tried to float the idea of going home to recover but my parents attitude was 'fuck that, we're on holiday and you might kill your nan if you stay with her. Keep it to yourself'.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:41, archived)
Heh.
I called NHS Direct and they literally told me to take a couple of aspirin and call back in the morning. Thinking "Sod that", I called a private doctor, who came round at 22:30, prescribed me some antibiotics and charged me £100. Worth it, though, because I actually got better.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:45, archived)
Mumps is viral, not bacterial; the NHS were right.
I went when my nuts started flaring up and the nice old kiwi lady doctor poked them with a lollipop stick. I'm pretty sure she noticed me instinctively pull my hand back as if I was about to lamp her and muttered "ooh, they are tender aren't they?".

She didn't know what to do so phoned her mate in the infectious disease part of the hospital who said 'fuck all you can do really. Give him some strong painkillers and tell him to wear supportive pants'.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:49, archived)
Funny, I didn't get the whole swollen balls thing.
My then-girlfriend's dad was mildly obsessed with making sure I knew about the risks to my fertility, though.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:56, archived)
When I was in school one of my acquaintances got ringworm.
In fairness he did live on a farm.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:34, archived)
One of my mates' sisters went travelling to Belize and brought back a flesh-eating disease in her sleeping bag, which my mate then borrowed and caught.

There's a low-budget horror film in here somewhere.

I had legionnaire's disease
but that's not really associated with the Victorian era
(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:35, archived)
but then I'm not sure scabies is either

(, Tue 24 Oct 2017, 11:39, archived)
Only because it wasn't identified until about 30 years ago
There were cases long before that but nobody knew what it was, so cases generally went without being linked to one another.
Sorry, I seem to be going off on a wannabe virologist tangent

Alright folks, this next track's going out to Tangles, by special request.
On the subject of songs, a man in Canada was stopped by the police last month and asked whether he had just been screaming at the wheel of his car. His reply was that he had, in fact, been singing the popular 90s dance hit "Everybody Dance Now". The police decided that this fell under the Quebec traffic violation of screaming, and issued him a ticket for $149.
(, Mon 23 Oct 2017, 13:27, archived)
lol.
Why is screaming in your car illegal?

I was reading about how the French have permanently declared a state of emergency so they can kick your doors in and search you and shut shit down without judges and due process. That'll be great if the right do well in the future won't it?
(, Mon 23 Oct 2017, 13:34, archived)
Presumably because you might scare other, nervous road-users.
And it's a marginally less sinister version of the Tories' Daily Mail-esque frothing hatred of forrins. Macron had his way to the presidency sponsored by the rich in exchange for a bunch of promises that would stuff over poor people, and nothing says "you are a worthless non-citizen" like provisions that allow law enforcement agencies to act like a de facto secret police.
(, Mon 23 Oct 2017, 13:42, archived)
It seems more sinister to me.
While the mail's stirring up hatred is abhorrent, putting the means in place to allow the police to do whatever the state wants without oversight makes Le
Courrier Quotidien or whatever the french version of the daily mail is called's job much easier at persecuting people.
(, Mon 23 Oct 2017, 13:51, archived)
I don't know what the French equivalent of the Heil is, now that you mention it.
Press organs like that rarely bother with ensuring their stories have any correlation to reality, though. As soon as a Muslim guy crashes his car because he had a seizure when driving, he'll be reported as an Islamist hell-bent on using his car as a weapon and targeting innocent (white) people.

Forgive These People
No man or demon can ever, with predictable results, tear down what God has built. The earth, the oceans, the atmosphere, the solar systems; all are so intricately woven as one as to be intractable to man. Man can never add to it, all that the most brilliant mind can ever hope to do is detract. All men can do is tear down and not even that unless God allows. What is being torn down must be torn down. God is building an indestructible kingdom minus the evil intent that so dominates this worldly kingdom. Man’s life was given by God. It transcends all we believe we see being destroyed. Our life is woven seamlessly in the fabric of God’s life. A minute ago I finished writing a full page outlining the myriad ways I see that geoengineering will extinguish all life; but then I deleted it. All it does is glorify mans ability to instill fear in his fellowman. All you see happening had to be; a separation had to take place. Be sure we will not save this world! Neither will we save ourselves; even with all the detoxification methods we can muster. If that’s our definition of an answer, we had better get started storing all this stuff. You won’t need food; you will spend all of your time ingesting this stuff. Everything you see is changing, not because men are destroying it but because God is allowing them to do something needed. Allow your mind to at least accept what is happening, give it permission to say good-by to all this. You cannot successfully fight against God; if men were solely responsible for this there would be an answer. If men can take it away anytime they wish, why do you even want it? Something permanent is on the horizon. They believe it is their superior intellect that has accomplished this. However, at the end of every foolish endeavor historical man has ever embarked on, the only thing that never fails to be discovered cowering together is a band of humbled fools. A wise missionary once said, “A man is no fool to give what he cannot keep to gain what he can never lose”. If concerned people around the world will earnestly commit this to God, I truly believe our greatest fears will never be realized! We have to trust our lives to God and pray for Him to turn this around.
