# so the guy gets DVT from sitting there playing computer games - up to 12 hours. Hmmmm... I generally work 8 - 9 hours at my desk a day (including get up to use the facilities or grab lunch)
I'd imagine there are a lot more people who work longer, or who leave their desk less. I wonder why DVT isn't a bigger issue, or if it is, why it therefore isn't reported?

#
Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), collectively termed venous thromboembolism (VTE), are a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Quantifying the disease burden has proven difficult, given that VTE is often clinically silent. Indeed, a significant majority of VTE diagnoses are likely missed [1]. This is evident from numerous post mortem studies identifying an abundance of VTE events that were clinically undiagnosed prior to death [2,3].

# Both my parents had DVT
and in neither case was it the result of sitting around for long periods of time.

As dbroon said, it's all about moral panic and whatnot
