Is there an easy way to remove things from backgrounds that I'm missing? Or is it really just a total pain in the ass that takes tons of time?

# As in cut out
I'm using Paint Shop Pro 7 and I found that the lasso with the point-to-point selection to be the best way to do this so far.

I use the lasso tool in photoshop and then touch up the edges with a feathered eraser

# nice pic
if you are using photo shop a good way to do it is to use layer masks.

# Like?
Paint Shop Pro has a 'background eraser' tool that works fairly well. What software are you using?
(, Mon 15 Sep 2003, 5:20, archived)
# Where is that?
or do you mean the color replacer?
(, Mon 15 Sep 2003, 5:26, archived)
# PSP7
didn't have the background eraser. You either had to use the lasso tool, the regular eraser, or a mask.

I used to use the eraser tool with a new layer. Masking works pretty well, too.
