I can make is to download one of those freeware task monitoring utilities, and use it to see which process is using all the resources.
And of course, the ever-reliable format-and-reinstall option.
I gave up on 98 - Win2000 is much better.

I miss 2000 sever but it doesn't play a lot of the games i like.

it's only using 22% cpu
but it's filled up 439Mb of my 512Mb of ram.
has anyone used any of the memory optimiser programs? are they any good?
edit: it's using a 159Mb swap file (automatc virtual memory)but according to the monitor program it's only actually using 3.6 mb of it)

i defragged the other day too.
though i must admit i cancelled it at about 80% done
When i restart it's fine then gets slower as i open more programs

that tells you how much memory is being used by each task. Then you can find out which program is responsible.
There used to be one called "CCtask" that was good.
