# Woo yay for the lettering in particular!
That's not an actual font is it?

P.S. The Jim Henson Creature Shop people just sold all the fluffy brightly-coloured shit like the Hoobs or the Deebs or the Muns or whatever they are to Disney, and kept the rigts to all the fantasy stuff so they can start concentrating on more of that kind of thing. I almost wept for joy when I heard that.

# no font, I spent far too long making that lettering from the Dark Crystal text
that's so cool to hear they sold the kiddie crap to Disney and kept the good shit

# I have that font somewhere
can't remember where I got it from though.

EDITAnd here it is in a handy zip.

a sequel to Labyrinth.

# I saw that for the first time in ages the other night
The critters were this much better than CG

# CG has made film makers lazy
which is a shame

# And, no matter how realistic, always looks wrong.
But 'real' effects always look right, no matter how ropey. It must be because they're realy there.

# too true
even when they do a CG person and directly copy the movements from an actual person walking etc., it still looks wrong

# Jurassic Park worked.
And some of the monsters in LOTR worked (but the greenscreening was diabolical!).
But everybody else is just using CGI because it's wrongly associated with superior results to traditional FX. They must be able to see that it's ropey, surely?

People are the worst. CGI monsters you can sometimes get away with if you're really good, but people just can't be done on computers yet.

# the second matrix film
is home to some atrocious CGI work!

# Oh, god, yes.
The daft thing is they could have done most of it for real! Like that scene with Neo spinning around on his stick in the basketball court. They could have used wires to make that happen, rather than drawing him in with crayons.

# It's because
nobody actually knows how to make things look real, and the aspects of puppets and models which make them look real are things like dirt and blurs and dark shadows and so forth which are disregarded by CG artists, and probably sometimes even edited out because they seem undesirable.

# Movement also.
Don't forget movement.
