# WHOA
i didn't even know my f11 key could do that! holy shit! i'm gonna be pressing this key for solid hours now...
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:49, archived)
# hahaha are you joking?
you have been living in a bubble aicmfp.

that was one of apple's main selling features.

now try, f9, f10 and f12(latter is tiger only)
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:54, archived)
# i know f12 is for dashboard
but im a relative noob as far as mac os goes.. just got a g5 imac a couple months ago and haven't thought to mash down all the f-keys. AIIGGH!!! f9 kicks my ass!
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:57, archived)
# haha
actually, you sound like my father. he never experiments. i however am a child and everything is new, every moment golden, every opporunity fulfilling etc...
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:59, archived)
# well, i decided to experiment a bit
and was disappointed by every f-key that wasnt 9, 10, 11, or 12. bastards.
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 10:02, archived)
# hehe
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 10:07, archived)
# of all the things i use
I *never* use exposé - which is also why i don't like the new mouse. I love mac's, but they really can't make good mice...
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:25, archived)
# huh?
you mean the new 4 button one?
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:27, archived)
# yep.
same silly (pretty) shape as the other mice, but with buttons on the side - which you end up pressing all the time and accientally exposé-ing.

The mouse is the wrong shape for your hand, so you end up putting pressue on the sides to move it. When you do that you click the side buttons by accident. I have an ugly microsoft mouse, which i love. It fits my hand and I've *never* pressed any of 4 the buttons by accident.

but there you go. I love my g5 and my ibook though.
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:30, archived)
# really? i haven't used it yet
thanks for the advice old chap.

i too have the white and grey 3 buton micrsoft one. ugly, but functional (unlike most M$ stuff which is just ugly.)
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:32, archived)
# my other half has one
and seems to like it, but I actively don't. Try before you by perhaps.
(actually this mouse is *filthy* I should clean it)
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:33, archived)
# my keyboard is a filthy mutha
haven't cleaned it for yonks
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:36, archived)
# I believe
you can reconfigure what the mouse-buttons do. (I don't have a mac to check, but I'm pretty sure I saw a screenshot of precisely this.)

and microsoft make wonderful mice.
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:35, archived)
# well at least they can do something right
(sorry, they're not all that bad. i really don't want to spark off 'the debate')
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:38, archived)
# its only mice i don't like!
i used a pc for 6 months in a prev job, it was bollocks. Everyone who worked there had some app that made it look more like a mac. meh.
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:39, archived)
# you probably can but
if you don't want to click the button, you don't want to click it, regardless of what it does.
(unless it would randomly wipe out a local kid every time i clicked it - that would be cool. They are all satans children round here)
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:38, archived)
# true, but anyway
here: clicky
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:43, archived)
# 'other'
so the potential for randomy blowing stuff up *is* there...
/strokes chin
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:45, archived)
# other= link to porn
or yes, possibly killing local satanic children...
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:50, archived)
# so make the
left hand pain-in-the-ass button for pr0n and the right one for local child killing and you're set! hell, maybe even add another button for beer delivery.
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:53, archived)
# indeed
but am i right in thinking bouth pain-in-the-arse buttons do the same thing? on the config example they're linked to the same drop down menu.
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:56, archived)
# not sure
cause the first thing i did was switch that odd bubbly looking mac mouse for the USB windows mouse i had for my craptop.

even if they DO do the same thing, why not make it so that the one button does all three. that way you get porn, beer, and one less annoyance all at once!
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:59, archived)
# ^ this
I`ve a wireless keyboard/mouse at home and those side buttons are a right pain in the arse, even just for the physical clicking when it`s been told "don`t do anything if I press you"

we should all get VR helmets and Power Gloves like Lawnmower Man
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:45, archived)
# yes! yes!

# get get a mac mini
hook it up to your existing monitor, and get a decent USB keyboard/mouse

/waiting on next big build of Ubuntu Linux to see if its hardware support is better, and failing that will get a Mac Mini and use the Windows box as a VNC server for Windows-y stuff
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:43, archived)
# already got one
i meant i might not buy the mighty mouse now. they should remname it for the english market anyway. 'mighty mouse' is so cheesy/american*

*same word really
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:52, archived)
# how noisy are they
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 10:02, archived)
# oops sorry
i meant i had a mac. 'tis the old iMac G4.
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 10:07, archived)
# Ha ha
top thing for me to see this 'ning

Although I am a bit angry at M$ for constantly re-assigning the default application for .wavs on an old win98 partition that I have, but the anger is fading... slowly fading.....

# If you really want to hurt yourself...
...I suggest this.

(The design is not mine-- I shamelessly copied it from an unreasonably smart japanese fella, and just made it biggerer and cleanerer, and was glad of the excuse to fiddle with recursive photoshop actions.)
(, Wed 24 Aug 2005, 9:45, archived)
# Wooooo
But i think a fluffy kitten background would do the job better
