This is a link post Iranian Airline company has some weird dress codes for children.
This would never happen in the land of the free and all that.

This is a normal post
United said the girls were travelling on a special pass, for employees and their guests, which has a dress code.

This is a normal post Only applied to the girls in the group
The 10 year old girls.
Maybe, just maybe, the gate guardian might have an interesting browsing history in the encrypted computer that he might keep hidden in his bassement.
How else could he be checking children's bums for "correctness" and not notice the adults?

This is a normal post Maybe they were the only ones breaking the dress code?
Were ALL the girls targeted or just the ones in leggings?

This is a normal post Their dad was also outside the code
But being a man and all that, he got no problems.

And frankly, I would not notice little kids in leggings, but a big hairy American in short shorts, yuck.

This is a normal post Maybe they were fat.
Fat people shouldn't wear leggings. Or fly.

This is a normal post Too right.
They push food prices up via the magic of supply and demand. If it weren't for fat people penny chews would still cost 1p.

This is a normal post ... and pound cake would still cost 50p.

This is a normal post Fucking busybody SJW twats.
This might be a story if the girls in question were paying customers. But they weren't. They were boarding for free as part of the benefits programme that UA provides their employees.
Considering that there's a very good chance that these girls were occupying seats that would have otherwise gone to paying customers, I think UA have every right to dictate what is and isn't acceptable attire as representatives of the airline (whether the other passengers know they're representatives or not is irrelevant, the appearance of the passengers as a whole will alter people's perceptions of an airline.)
If they want more freedom in their choice of attire, they can bloody well pay for their seats like everybody else. Ungrateful cunts.

This is a normal post The dress code says business wear.
As others have pointed out, leggings are entirely appropriate business wear, since the business of children is being children.

This is a normal post Obviously they aren't going to expect the kids to dress up in a suit.
But for fucks sake, When you read that business/formal wear is a requirement, only a thick twat would think "Oh, I'll just dress the kids up in any old shite then."
I'm sure the leggings would have been perfectly fine if they were being accompanied with shorts or a skirt, like they're traditionally worn. The fact that popular culture has spawned this awful trend of wearing leggings as outerwear should not play in their defense.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

This is a normal post Well, I wonder how that decision is working out for them right now.
1) What IS the point? Most people who've heard about this think it's pointless, so they haven't really made themselves look good.

2) Who benefits?
Is anyone, on seeing a child dressed in casual attire, going to think "wow, United Airlines HR policy has really gone downhill!" ? Of course not.
Is anyone, on hearing a child has been disallowed from boarding (in clothes that would be considered fine for anyone else) going to think "wow, Unite Airlines are unreasonable cunts!" ? Of course they will.

3) They've just wasted a number of usable seats, and they now have to find space on later flights for these children to travel, so they've cost themselves money.

This is a normal post It's the kind of situation where the company ends up
Saying "fuck the lot of you then, this perk is cancelled as it's too much trouble and everyone takes it for granted".
(, Mon 27 Mar 2017, 19:43, , Reply)
This is a normal post Probably.
My guess is that whoever thought up the policy didn't particularly have children in mind. They could just train their staff with slightly better guidelines.
