Well, I wonder how that decision is working out for them right now.
1) What IS the point? Most people who've heard about this think it's pointless, so they haven't really made themselves look good.
2) Who benefits?
Is anyone, on seeing a child dressed in casual attire, going to think "wow, United Airlines HR policy has really gone downhill!" ? Of course not.
Is anyone, on hearing a child has been disallowed from boarding (in clothes that would be considered fine for anyone else) going to think "wow, Unite Airlines are unreasonable cunts!" ? Of course they will.
3) They've just wasted a number of usable seats, and they now have to find space on later flights for these children to travel, so they've cost themselves money.
