This is a normal post Well, I wonder how that decision is working out for them right now.
1) What IS the point? Most people who've heard about this think it's pointless, so they haven't really made themselves look good.

2) Who benefits?
Is anyone, on seeing a child dressed in casual attire, going to think "wow, United Airlines HR policy has really gone downhill!" ? Of course not.
Is anyone, on hearing a child has been disallowed from boarding (in clothes that would be considered fine for anyone else) going to think "wow, Unite Airlines are unreasonable cunts!" ? Of course they will.

3) They've just wasted a number of usable seats, and they now have to find space on later flights for these children to travel, so they've cost themselves money.

This is a normal post It's the kind of situation where the company ends up
Saying "fuck the lot of you then, this perk is cancelled as it's too much trouble and everyone takes it for granted".

This is a normal post Probably.
My guess is that whoever thought up the policy didn't particularly have children in mind. They could just train their staff with slightly better guidelines.
