This is a normal post I'm upset that in the middle of a housing crisis whole developments can be postponed for years if not scrapped.
Because a single is found on a site.
A newt that is not even threatened in this country.

Also they're at 45% because labour is a fucking shambles.
That needs to change.

This is a normal post housing developments get held up for a multitude of reasons
the newt thing is a bit ridiculous but certain nesting birds, bats, any number of other protected species, archaelogical discoveries etc etc hold things up or can developments entirely. But the usual reason is simply local opposition.

This is a normal post If there's a need then fine.
But in this case it's bollocks.

This is a normal post I believe the GCN
was protected in statutory law by Thatcher, so leaving EU might make no difference. Stick that in your Brexit fact-free pipe and smoke it.

This is a normal post Maybe back in the 80's it was needed or maybe thatcher just loved them.
That uk law exists from then true, however things in the UK have changed and they're not engendered anymore but the EU law overrides it I guess.

But if people feel strongly about keeping an eu law that was established with the help of boris johnsons daddy then lobby your m.p to save the newt.

Just not Ken Livingston because he doesn't think the newts will be troubled.

This is a normal post A b3tan I may be Withnail, but an expert on newts I am not!

This is a normal post it's never as simple as 'we've got loads of them, bulldoze it'
Newts could be a particularly good indicator of something else that would support loads of other species, low pollution or an ancient environment.

It's just developers pushing to build on greenfield rather than brown because they can make more profit

This is a normal post Rather than killing wildlife
the "housing crisis" could be aided by greater restrictions on landlords and using our empty buildings
edit: fucking newts? fucking humans more like.

This is a normal post And banning divorce would help too.
Force people to stay together resenting every moment of their existence like in the olden days.

This is a normal post Don't we need to build 300,000 houses a year or something to keep up?

This is a normal post Yeah, but you're a fucking idiot.
There's a housing crisis for the simple reason that the construction industry owners don't WANT to build houses because it's 'not profitable enough at present.' There are hundreds of sites in the UK that HAVE planning permiission, that won't see a single house built until the property developers think they'll get a good enough deal. And that's WITHOUT going into all the 'brownfield' sites that could be developed, but won't. or the fact that 'affordable' housing is seen by the powers that be as something to be avoided at all costs.
