This is a normal post This is what happens when lifelong penpushers try an arse-covering exercise
The price difference between using a petrochemical*-based foam insulation which will burn and a mineral based one which won't burn is not as great as you'd think.
Then again, as the old saying goes 'look after the pennies and who cares if the proles burn'**

*The clues were there in the 'petrochemical' bit

**I may have misquoted this

Quick edit
I note from the article that they are going to use cement boards for the rain cladding. Good idea - excellent way to make sure that there's a really good chimney effect to spread the fire and fumes upwards

This is a normal post That's the best cladding available from a fire safety perspective.
I think we've done our experiments with building with Asbestos as a society.

This is a normal post Rockwooll works- won't burn and doesn't cause mesothelioma*
*My uncle died from Mesothelioma** - contracted when he worked at Ferodo

**took two weeks to cremate him

This is a normal post That's not cladding. That's the insulation itself.
And yep Rock wool variants are the go-to good stuff for insulation.

This is a normal post Yeah, the bellends in Salford took the cladding off and exposed the seriously burny inslation.
There's a couple of rockwool* based combined insulation/rainscreen products - only trouble is, rockwool expect the contractors to go through their training and actually be efficient and diligent.

*Quick confession - I used to work for a rockwool group company, on the acoustics side.

This is a normal post You're getting rock wool kickbacks. Admit it!
I am genuinely surprised once it has been known that these buildings are all really burney nobodies torched one yet.

Whether it's for shit's n giggles or an attempt to get re-housed in a nicer buidling.

This is a normal post I'm surprised too
I think it'll happen - sometime this year. However, my local council appear to have specified rockwool* in their external insulation** projects - at least in the ones I've seen recently.

*Wish I was getting kickbacks but haven't worked for them for quite a while.

**I kid you not - someone actually tried to call this idea 'outsulation' as it was on the 'outside'. I think it was the first time he'd been called a fuckwit by an entire salesforce.
