This is a link post I hate DLC so much that I made a song about it I made this!
This is a rap song by me, about the annoyance that is downloadable content for computer games. Remember when you just bought a game and that was it?

This is a normal post My take on DLC:
If you don't like it then don't buy the game until it's heavily discounted. If you feel like the publishers are ripping you off, then don't reward them with your hard earned pocket money.
Besides, there are loads of free or cheap indie titles and probably just as many AAA games you missed when they came out. It would be weird if there wasn't something else that could entertain you until the price is more to your liking.

but only for six months or so. I like the fact my console doesn't need upgrading at all over it's lifespan, which has been about 4 years now.

Mind you, I'm not a powergamer, i only play for an hour or so a week, tops, so forking out for a new graphics card every so often is pointless to me.

This is a normal post It doesn't have to be that often.
Last winter I got a graphics card that, at the time, was a bit over midrange, and it still makes things look all pretty without the framerate dropping horribly or catching on fire. The rest of my computer is somewhere midrange since everything is about 4 years old but it is still able to play Deus Ex: Human Revolution(thank god for steam sales) on the higher settings.

Most games will run decent framerates with lower graphics settings. And it's far easier to play FPS with mouse and keyboard than with a pad.

If you look at the benchmarks for current cards the top one's go into the 100+ FPS
On a 60hz monitor this is overkill.

Saying that I love how my Gtx580 goes through games without a care.

I built a midrange pc at xmas with a triple core amd processor and a 6770 video card for just over £200. It runs pretty much everything including Witcher 2, Civ 5, ME3 and Skyrim without really breaking a sweat.

I resisted buying Skyrim until now because I refuse to spend more than £20 - £25 on games. If there's DLC available in future for it I won't buy it until it's heavily discounted.

I also resisted buying GT5 for about a year and a half for the same reason.

As for stupid things like buying avatars, wallpapers and superfluous in game crap, why anyone would buy those things is beyond me.

But I have to say Skyrim was way worth the RRP. The number of hours enjoyment I've had (and am still having) is unreal... Considering the cinema is £13 in London these days, the £30 I paid for it was a bargain!

This is a normal post It's not so much that I don't want to pay
and more about me being a student and slightly broke at all times(not that I'm unable to eat). So for me it's about balancing a budget figuring out what is best at making me experience a fantastic universe in which I can have awesome adventures. Games or tequila, and games are less sad on weekdays :) On top of that, as much as I love my games I am in fact able to live without the newest toys, also the very second they are let loose on the world.

This is a normal post There is 4 tpyes of DLC in my opinion
1) Indy DLC. A free game with DLC to unlcok the full game. Great.
2) Extra Content DLC. Like the Red Dead Redemption Zombie pack. A hwhole new game based off the current game. Great.
3) Whimsical DLC. DLC that gives you costumes/wallpapers. Money waster
4) Integral DLC. Unlocks on disk content for the game, extra weapons and the like. COmplete rip off forcing people to pay twice as much for a game just so they can play all the content on the disk they;ve already paid for.

once you are hooked into a game then they have you by the short and curlies. Do you want to the game to stop? Or will you feed in more money?

his signal is super strong and I do know him a bit. He introduced himself after saying hello on twitter after recognising a picture of a cat I tweeted. "I've seen that cat!" And eventually we both unplugged ourselves from the internet and left the house and said hello to each other.

I've tried them - I think they want the circuits to be on the same ring main and we appear to have three (!?) in our house. Old victorian house and shitty wiring that's been patched and patched due to change of use with conversions and extensions etc.

No luck with the relay booster stuff whatever that's called either. Well it'll work for about 1hr then need one or both boxes rebooting.

Really the only solid way is run a cable and the last time I got a quote from an electrician to do it all tidy etc he wanted £500 so I thought fuck it - I don't need internet that badly in that room. For films I just stick stuff on a USB stick.

Loads of BF3 players complaining last night; EA are selling all the weapon unlocks on Origin. Fuck that shit.

Jeccius pointed out the merits of of Steam weekend deals and I haven't looked back since then. Best one was Borderlands GOTY with all the DLC for £2.99.

If it was developed and created AFTER the release date.

What fucks me off is them holding back on content thats ON DISC and charing you for it. This is total bullshit.

I've been fine with the BF3 DLC as EA have been working/developing since release.

Mass Effect 3 day 1 DLC can give my hairy ballsack.
