This is a normal post It's almost as if judges have very limited discretion
and must follow sentencing guidelines that are designed specifically to avoid having what feels right to any particular person at a given time play a significant role in the administration of justice.

I've not read the case report, or the evidence presented, or the sentencing guidelines, or the pre-sentence report. Have you?

What I do know is that judges do not simply pull sentences from out of nowhere, and that Joseph J is an experienced judge.

You asked me why he didn't get 14 years. I don't know. I don't have to know. You're the one suggesting that the judge got things wrong, so it's reasonable to expect that you have all the facts at your fingertips.
