This is a link post Project Sausage Drone Stage 2 - Sausage Drop! I made this!
I've finally got stage 2 of the sausage drone project completed! Hoorays! As you can see, there were many obstacles, involving many many crashes. But it is now capable of parachute dropping sausages!

And I do not intend to sell it to Libya. If anyone wanted to give an ambassador a nice picnic then this may be more up their street.

This is a normal post well i could put wheels on the bottom
but that increases weight and drag. really the throw launch should be ok as long as you get the basic stuff- level of thrust and trim and centre of gravity- right.

the majority of the crashes on take off were caused by either breakages caused by the big crashes or by too little thrust due to the wrong prop choice. I learned a bit about the slightly more arcane things that effect thrust in this process, and also the importance of testing power on a wattmeter before you chuck it in the air as you can be really surprised at the results of a small change in setup.

This is a normal post The throw launch is the same method the army uses for it's small drones.
Have you conceded incorporating some kind of real time visual signal?
Could use a cheap mobile with video chat functions for this.

i've got full FPV (first person view) kit ready to go. video goggles and vid rx for me to fly with, and a little camera and vid tx for the plane. i need a lot of practice before i can fly that wing with it though.

I've tried it a couple of times on slower more forgiving planes, and it is AWESOME but also very disorientating- last time i ended up in a tree a mile away.

so yeah i need some practice!

Pretty cheap and robust, and you can up the motors/batteries etc. for some ridiculous performance. Probably wouldn't have the lift for a sausage though!

This is a normal post They're great fun, and fairly robust
Not flown for a while, last thing I built and still have is an Irvine X-it wing. Needs some decent ridge lift to get it going, (it's quite heavy), but in the right conditions it's quite fast. Haven't flown it this year because of the awful weather.

But remember, under-drone sausage can be deadly. So next phase is cooking sausages while aloft and then dropping them on or near or in the same field at least as a plate.
