This is a question I don't understand the attraction

Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

Curb your enthusiasm
Obnoxious old guy makes fool of himself, tries to cover it up, makes more of a fool of himself.

Repeat ad nauseum, without any actual humour being involved.

My opinion exactly
As funny as a good, solid, punch in the face.

You can't have seen
Beloved Aunt

The funniest thing ever. Ever. Better than Fawlty Towers.

I Liked:
The episode with chef with tourettes. The look of joy on Michael Yorke's face as he shouts "BUM" still makes me chuckle.

I've tried CYE a couple of times.
I personally love Seinfeld (sorry Enzyme) but CYE just leaves me cold.

There's also Arrested Development that some of my otherwise rational mates rave about; that was just dull. It wasn't enough of anything, good or bad, to be worth paying attention to let alone criticising.

I wanted to like it given his pedigree.
But whiny americans arguing in the same style over and over again.

I always felt sorry for him
The pooor guy has one slightly awkward misunderstanding per episode and everyone, including his friends and his wife, treat him like the biggest cunt under the sun. I used to end up yelling at the screen with that one.

Once when I hired out Arrested Development from my local the clerk told me that I'd "love" CYE...when I told him what I said above, he informed that that's why it's funny: "It's funny cuz they're such arseholes!" Yeah...

It seems that everyone i know thinks it's some kind of masterpiece to be reveared and talked about with bowed heads and hushed voices!
