This is a question Narrow Escapes

IHateSprouts tells us they once avoided getting caught up in an IRA bomb attack by missing a train. Tell us how you've dodged the Grim Reaper, or simply avoided a bit of trouble.

Air France Flight 447
I was supposed to be on that flight, but missed my connecting flight (I was supposed to be flying from St. Louis and I think, Cincinnati then down to Brazil for work), so ended up being flown back up north to Missouri, then on to South Carolina instead and flew out of there back to Gatwick, missing Brazil completely.

On an Airbus A330.

It was somewhat convoluted, and I was getting mighty pissed off about being flown all over the place when all I wanted to do was get the work done and come home.

Thank Christ I was.

Sadly, my grandmother died while I was over there, so I suppose Death got his way in the end.

I was on..
Flight AF447 about a month before it crashed after being at a conference on Rio. Horrible feeling remembering that the people that died had been no different to you and I. No denying that it made me twitch a bit when I flew to the same conference this year, not with Air France though.

I
was the same when I had to go back a few months later (not with Air France this time) but still on an A330.

I still can't help..
but wonder whether any of the crew on my flight were those on the fateful flight. Flew with TAM the last time on a nice new plane, coming back was a bit bumpy and surprised the person next to me didn't drown!
