I see Dolly Parton is back in the top ten in the charts
9 to 5?

No, just number 8.

I don't get this one

The joke is that when told that Dolly Parton is back in the charts, the responder is talking about Dolly Parton's song "9 to 5". But the first person takes this to mean that Dolly Parton is in the charts in positions 9 to 5, whereas she is only at number 8.

But 9 to 5 includes 8.
Is you not understanding numbers part of the joke?

Okay, if you want me to break it down some more...

When the responder says "9 to 5", that, by the use of the word "to" indicates that, although they are referring to the Dolly Parton song, this is interpreted as occupying all the positions between 9 and 5 inclusive, i.e. positions 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

However, the first person then replies "No, only 8", which, by ingenious use of the word "only" indicates that only one of the chart positions is held by the late songstress.
