This is a question Irrational Hatred

People who say "less" when they mean "fewer" ought to be turned into soup, the soup fed to baboons and the baboons fired into an active volcano. What has you grinding your teeth with rage, and why?

American sitcoms and 'cartoons'
I cannot STAND the Simpsons, Friends, Cheers, King of the hill or any American crap like that. I can't see any funny in them at all. I'd give anyone £1000 if you sat me in front of a tv set and put one of these so called 'funny' programs on to try to make me laugh. I'm not a miserable sod, it's just they're not funny. Another thing that annoys me is the laughter track thats put on. It's bleeding obvious when they do it, and thats most of the time. You need to just listen to the program to do that.

There! i've said it.
I dare say i'm going to be shot down in flames over this, but I don't care.

Length? I've had no complaints!!!

Whoa.
You can't lump the Simpsons in with Cheers. It may not be the force it was 10 years ago, but nothing in the Simpsons has *ever* made you laugh? I'm not even sure that's possible.

It is possible...
There are people out there who have never laughed at anything in the Simpsons, they may be clinically dead or in deep comas but...

Indeed.

I rest all of my cases.

Defend yourself,
by listing what you do find funny.

This will allow the internet to pass a fair judgement on you.

I'm not too keen on people
who put quotation marks around words that actually mean exactly what they are saying.

It's "annoying".
(, Fri 1 Apr 2011, 8:44, closed)
Even better if they're speaking,
and make "air-quotes" with their fingers.

I've caught myself doing this, but I was probably being "ironic," so that's OK.

Family Guy - Good
Cleveland Show - Crap
American Dad - Crap

Also, Scrubs. Makes me laugh until wee comes out.

With you on all
but the Simpsons.

I do chuckle at it on occassion, but in the back of my mind I know it's wrong - it's a show that makes a virtue of stupidity, and that's no good thing.

Friends??? Quite honestly, I can say that despite having seen thousands of episodes (it seems to randomly appear on TV sets several times per day, and quite often it seems to be the very same episode - is there a pattern to it? Does it follow a timeline or is each episode a 'stand-alone' thing?) - that it hasn't even raised a smile once.

It's quite simply fucking drivel.

No. Badly acted, badly directed, badly written, formulaic, uncomical fucking drivel. Just watch one of them while another is speaking - they'll be almost mouthing the words alone, whilst standing dead still waiting for their turn to speak. How they managed to get a million quid an episode is sheer proof that merit and talent mean fuck all in America.

Anyway. Sorry to highjack your rant with another, but fuck, you had to mention that waste of airtime.

Amen...
Crazy that friends made fucking gazillions of pounds. What the fucks with that..heres for finding a bunch of mongs that can write some badly acted, badly directed, badly written, formulaic, uncomical fucking drivel.Lets face it though. shit loads of American shite is just like friends. Sienfeld or whatever the fuck its called... can someone please explain to it me...what is it and why is it...they seem to fucking idolise it. America scares the hell out of me.

American Shitcoms
It's not like that are as brilliant as Are You Being Served or Keeping Up Appearances.
(, Fri 1 Apr 2011, 13:20, closed)

didnt realise anyone here was sticking up for british sitcoms.
(, Fri 1 Apr 2011, 17:10, closed)
And what about shows like Arrested Development or South Park?
Shows that blow the best British comedies fresh out the water?

Just because a few American comedies are shite, it doesn't mean they all are
(, Fri 1 Apr 2011, 13:51, closed)

even south park has got formulaic. all recent series have 1 or 2 gems. the rest are polyfilla
(, Fri 1 Apr 2011, 17:08, closed)
can anybody explain two and a half men?
or mike and molly? or everybody loves raymond? or king of queens? or pretty much anything on comedy central?

To be fair, I've barely watched any of these, but that is because from the little I've seen they are universally shocking.

Ok, two and a half men might be a bit funnier now Sheen's gone mental, but otherwise?

Utter utter gash
