Alright

Don't think I've been around at the same time as you since you saw Wedding Present.
I missed 'em this time. Make me jealous.

They were alright.
I'm not a massive fan, but they were important enough of a band for me to want to have seen them, so I'm glad I did.
Are you listening to the Freak Zone? That Michael Nyman piece just now was lovely.
(, Sun 9 Dec 2012, 20:45, Reply)
Yes but I've just been out for a tab and missed that
You probably need to know Wedding Present before seeing them. My 2010 shirt says "All their songs sound the same."

I know George Best and Hit Parade well,
But they were playing Sea Monsters, preceded by several new songs and some Cinerama songs.

Sea Monsters is probably my favourite
Always worth rolling out when anyone says women can't play bass.
(, Sun 9 Dec 2012, 21:02, Reply)
Who says women can't play bass?
I'd cite Carol Kaye...

Tina Weymouth. Kendra Smith, Elanour Freedberger...

The Fiery Furnaces are a favourite of mine.

She's good - I think I spelled her name wrong though
Also - Chairlift - their bassist is a lass.
(, Sun 9 Dec 2012, 21:13, Reply)
You did:
Eleanor Friedberger.
Seen them live several times and it has always been a different experience each time.
(, Sun 9 Dec 2012, 21:15, Reply)
Never seen them, I'm sorry to say, but heard enough to like them.

(, Sun 9 Dec 2012, 21:17, Reply)
Stupidly talented people.
There's not one of their albums I don't enjoy, plus her brother Matthew has released four or five solo albums in the last couple of years. Talented fucker.

He was on 6 music the other night
A bit more challenging, is the best description.
(, Sun 9 Dec 2012, 21:23, Reply)
Yeah I caught a bit of that.
Some of what he does is quite challenging, but I like that.
He can do both accessible and challenging very well though. It's worth exploring both sides of the Fiery Furnaces' output.

I will
Just checked Chairlift - male bassist. But lovely. You want some?

Get some.

I won't listen on this silly machine, but I'll look them up at a later date.
