I'd remind him that whilst he's getting on a bit, the epilepsy of course, losing his hair, developing his paunch, looking at least ten years older due to his smoking and alcolholism, and the best years of his life being very much behind him,
that he can always seek companionship and friendship online

I'd also remind him how healthy it is that he considers people on a website set up to mock and ridicule things most people would consider as sacred cows
as such close personal friends that it's essential to keep them up to date with the minutiae of his personal life.
