Yeah', but they wern't very good, its out of season and just generally left me 'meh'.
The chocolates and sweets were stunning though, and I had some really good lobster. And the beers were WOW, we do beer so wrong over here, they're I can drink all the different beers all day long. Somehow they don't get you pissed though.

If Belgian beers don't get you pissed
you're doing it very wrong.

If you think we do beers wrong, you're drinking the wrong beers.

This as well.
But I expect what PP means by "we do beers wrong" is "we don't put fruit and 1.71 metric fucktons of sugar in our beers"
Which, is only doing beers wrong on the Pops scale.

Belgian beer isn't all flavoured/sweet.
They do a lot of very strong beers, and wheat beers. They tend to age their beers for longer than most european beers as well.

The chap at my local beer emporium keeps trying to persuade me to share in his passion for Gueuze.
As far as I can tell it is old beer mixed in with new beer and isn't very nice.
It certainly isn't sweet or fruity, anyway.

Yes, I know.
I've probably spent more time out drinking in Belgium than any other country bar the UK or the US. I'm taking the piss out of Gonz's curious tastebuds.

Belgian beers seem to fall into two camps
"Fruity drinks for people that don't like beer" and "hop wine like Duvel"
That is if you discount mass produced lagers, which I should think you probably do.

It's a bit broader than that that in terms of varieties
but, yeah.

It's not really to my taste, to be honest.

Yup, spot on.
You get the choice of both there though, the nice sweat / fruity beers, or the 'real beers'. Over here there's hardly any choice in comparison, you get El Desparado and thats about it.

And the women too, I could stand in the center, close my eyes, turn around 3 times with my arms pointed out.... and i'll end up pointing at someone i'd marry in an instant.
