Pretty good thanks Harters, how's tricks?

I'm ready for a four day break
It's just occurred to me that apart from one day to sort out the wife's new car I have not taken any time off yet this year.
(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:20, Reply)
That was me last year. This year I have had a few days off and weekends away and stuff, and a couple of things in the pipeline. Often you need it more than you realise.
Also today I saw a Chinese dwarf jogging. It was lol.
(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:22, Reply)
I've got loads of time off at the moment.
It's well lol.
(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:24, Reply)
I much prefer to not work. I don't hate working, it's a bit boring, but some bits I quite like. I'd just rather not go at all.

(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:26, Reply)
There's the rub, though.
I'd rather be in work than not, but easily think I could fill in my days if I had the means with which to retire.

At the moment, I have neither. I loved what I've done career wise for the last 14 years, but by christ it's hard to get back into on a long term basis right now.

I feel ya Bro

(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:31, Reply)
Exactly, I think it's the *having* to work part which is least desirable

(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:32, Reply)
It's even worse when you had a job that you loved and then lost :(

(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:33, Reply)
You should have worked harder ensuring the survival of your employers business. It's your own silly fault.

(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:35, Reply)
My side was really doing well
It was the contractual side that was the main reason we folded
(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:38, Reply)
I'm only kidding, I was in a very similar situation when I got made redundant. I was running the only profitable part of the business.

(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:39, Reply)
WELL AT LEAST YOU GOT REDUNDANCY PAY :(

(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:42, Reply)
Yeah I was really pleased with a couple of grand after a decade of work, and having to go through court proceedings to get it!

(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:43, Reply)
:(
Now you're just rubbing it in
(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:48, Reply)
If you have a job that you enjoy, it makes it worthwhile.
Which, in turn, makes it all the more unbearable when you decide to take voluntary redundancy just at the point when a new government comes into power and shits all over the sector in which you've worked for 10 years :(

I have said it before, I really like where I work, I really like the people I work for and with, but the actually work is pretty boring now I've been there for a while and set up a new part of the business.
I think I might try to do something completely different at some point soon.
(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:38, Reply)
I'd like to do something different, but I'm fucked if I know what.

(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:39, Reply)
Now Chompy's killed himself I'm sure there is a vacancy for a paperclip salesman

(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:41, Reply)
Here lies my problem!
My mum said she though I'd be a good blacksmith as she saw some telly programme about it. Yeah, thanks for that mummy.

I find Chinese people a bit odd, and I'm not exactly a giant of a man, I think they have sent out their best matched fighter to taunt me.

I haven't had a holiday since August 2012.
Closest after that has been a weekend camping with Stunned & Boyce McBeef last year.

We had a plan in place but she can't get the time off when we wanted to go, so that's been delayed until later.
But it's good to have something to look forward to in that regard.
(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:33, Reply)
I'm looking forward to having something to look forward to at the moment.
Still, keeps me on my toes.
(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:37, Reply)
I was like that not so long ago, but things turn round quickly sometimes.

(, Wed 16 Apr 2014, 21:40, Reply)
I've been fairly lucky in getting work since I took redundancy, apart from the first 10 months
but it's all been short term contracts. I just interviewed for a permanent job, but it's part time; I have another couple of applications in for contract jobs, 15 months and 3 years. Most other things I apply for I know I'm never going to get seen for because employers will take one look at my CV and say "He'll fuck off as soon as he gets a better offer".

I need to get my arse back down to PJ land and get some surfing in
