It's a modified webcam with an adapter to replace the eyepiece. You take a video sequence and software tracks and 'stacks' the frames to produce one image, you can set it to disguard frames of lesser quality etc. I've only messed about with it really, but some people have achieved really wicked pictures.

You can get screw-on adaptors to get an SLR on the end of your telescope.The scope then acts like a fucking huge camera lens. I've seen some pretty cool images from that set up.
