DVD on my home computer was borked
so I phoned Acer to tell them to fix it.

They instructed me to send it to them via their DHL account.

Sent it Monday, they tried to return it yesterday, all fixed and tested. All free of charge.

Good service.

Who's going to play the package in the movie?

To summarise, then:
Something went wrong. Someone fixed it. Thumbs-up.

My Xbox 360 got the RRoD not long ago
I'd had it for 16 months, so thought I was shit out of luck. Checking their site, it seems they extended the warranty for RRoD problems, so filled in the online forms. They emailed me a label to put on the box, and a number to call.

The next day a courier picked it up from my work, and five days later it came back, all working and with a months free Xbox Live time.

Great service.

That's pretty awesome
The optical drive on my girlfriend's iMac broke last week. Fortunately for her it was still under warranty; it would have cost her £200(!) to get it repaired if it hadn't been.

My immediate response was that to tell her that she should have a normal PC. I'd have charged her £50/hr to replace the drive and it'd only have cost her about £50 including the cost of the drive!

*sigh*

The joys of apple.

I would've replaced mine myself, but
it's a slimline computer, pretty much the smallest desktop I've ever seen, and so the replacement drive would probably have cost a load.

Hmmm...
This reminds me, I still need to get my xbox fixed.

I wouldn't want to get involved with anything slot loaded
On a related note lending her my external DVD drive has highlighted the need for me to flash them with NZ or AUS firmware to remove the region coding on them...

Good service
They must have plenty of experience though, given how much Acer stuff seems to break.

@ Captain V - for future reference, it'll be a standard DVD drive inside, you'd be able to get it a fuck sight cheaper than whatever horrendous price Apple would try and charge you.

first problem I've ever had with Acer stuff
also it was cheap, so I don't care.

my last Acer computer cost me ust over £200 and lasted 4 years of hard use. Until the powerful graphics card I stuck in it melted...

u1
I thought it probably would be but as I've never seen one for sale and haven't fitted one to a computer I own I'd still rather not be replacing one for somebody else!

I'll stop here before I go off on an apple rant.

:edit: Lab you cunt!
