Found this while trawling around another site. It's the ending of the US version of Life on Mars.
I preferred ours, I think.

"All that stuff that was ambiguous or thought-provoking or layered? Here's a simple explanation for the whole thing."
Bah.

UK version far superior.
But then again, we would say that, wouldn't we?
I think I'd like to see the whole of their version, it's clearly very, very different.
And what's with playing Elton John??? No, no, no, no! Bowie!

read some good reviews of the US version, so would be interested to see it.
But this ending sucks monkey balls big time.

it's just no where near as good as the UK version. Long live BBC America!

...being the US finale, they had to go another route and I quite liked it. It was intelligent (Gene Hunt being literally a gene hunt) and of course they managed to weave in references to Hyde in there too.
The characterizations are a shock, the US Sam Tyler seemed wooden compared to John Simm.

A version* combining both the US and UK Sam Tylers.....
wouldn't kick either of them out of bed on a cold night....
*in my head. A 'chicken' sandwich.
Oh god. Wine o'clock was too early I suspect.
