It is dead.
It was finally hounded from off-topic by some B3tans as they didn't like it regardless of others opinion.

well i think we shall see about that!!!
THE KING IS DEAD.
LONG LIVE THE KING!

Yes, it has been killed off!
And that's awesome that you're getting busy - hope things are a little better for you!

It's not dead
It's just resting.

It had got a little stale, and some of the quickfire random posts have been entertaining in its absence. But how long before they get stale?

Perchance it is not dead but sleepeth
I think the denizens of "daytime", when the likes of me and thee have other things to do, have led it against a wall and thrown rocks at it.

That all pales into insignificance because my big hound, Mr Brown, has won his second "best-in-show" today and has another pot for his trophy cabinet.

What doesn't kill it
MAKES IT STRONGER!

Not sure about that.
The lamp-post in Chippenham didn't kill Gene Vincent but he's very dead now.

Fishbones didn't kill our dear Queen Mother and now she's dead and we've not received a noticeable gin-tax rebate either.

@ TD

Young and old and gone
Got fascinated by Gene Vincent because of the second track on New Boots and Panties, but I currently have an employee who is absolutely obsessed with the man, and goes to Norfolk, VA, (GV's birthplace) every year for a Gene Vincent-fest.

I can still piss him off, though, because I've seen Jerry Lee Lewis LIVE! In Memphis, ten years ago last month.

Oh
I'm a little sad it's died.

Oh well. I'm not here much now anyways.

What Davros said basically
I think we've pressed the Big Giant Reset Button on QOTWOT recently, and we've ended up in a state where we have lots of smaller threads. While I miss the HSH, I do like many of the threads that have appeared recently. Whether this new status quo will maintain itself or whether the smaller threads will peter out remains to be seen, but I think HSH threads (or HSH-like chat-threads) will still pop up from time to time.

Anyway, about a week ago, I started a thread where we got to post about our memories of HSH threads past. The lack of enthusiasm in that thread lead me to believe that it was time to let nature take it's course on QOTWOT and see where we end up.

evening spazmo
how goes it?
aye, it must be said that all things must pass. for one, i was never a massively regular hsh-er but at my time of life i think sentimentality is perfectly valid.

ahem.

anyway, on with my point...

to kill something you dislike is simply fascism. or something like that.

i will fight to the death (?) to rescue, resurect and regenerate HSH.

if i can find the time that is, like on a sunday morning with VC and TD and then those lazy buggers who wander in later. we must preserve that which is valuable to us, aye?
(, Sun 3 May 2009, 22:06, Reply)
Aye!
Here's to HSH threads.

Well, you can't
make people post in HSH threads (that's just as much fascism)...

...but equally nobody can make them be dead, either. If people want to start them and post in them - whose going to stop them? And how...? be mean to them on the internet? Pffffft.
(, Sun 3 May 2009, 22:49, Reply)
You know what?
I'm not stopping anyone from starting HSH threads, I have nothing against those who choose to post in them, they're just not for me anymore. I think they've served their purpose in adjusting people to the OT experience and now it's time for something new.

Having said that, if people want to start them and have long daily threads, far be it from me to say that they should or shouldn't be allowed. I and several others at least have enjoyed OT a lot more since the HSH threads ceased as there was more to talk about.

So by all means, resurrect them, but I won't be joining in as I find them repetitive. NOT the people, just what is said.

When the HSH threads ruled the earth
Everyone would post their questions and "I just did this" statements there and they would get some followup.

Now, after the Becky-Vipros Event wiped out the dinosaursHSH threads, there are lots of individual threads for those questions and statements. They get between 0 and 45 posts, typically. What I think is key is where there are two interesting threads now, both will get post whereas under HSH typically one would win out.

On balance I like lots of little threads.
