Now I've been away for a little bit but...
when did the nested reply thing come back.
Most people hated it last time.

Is it because there is no HSH tread anymore and they thought no one was looking.

Nah
cr3 took a punt and changed it cos he thought it was broken.

Personally, I bloody love it.

Plus
now it's the same as every other board on b3ta.
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 21:41, Reply)
Hmmm
It was counting individual replies too... doesn't seem to be doing it now.
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 21:49, Reply)
It's doing it now!

(, Sun 10 May 2009, 21:52, Reply)
Yeah, I spotted that
It might only work when the top-level reply count is higher than 1, which is odd.
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 21:55, Reply)
That's what I figured
Until there's more than one reply to the original message, it just shows as one.
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 22:30, Reply)
Personally, I hate it
It's hard for me to see where the new replies are, and if someone makes a reply to something further up in the nest it makes conversation very disjointed (a bug I've had with all the boards). It's a bit like Marmite in that some hate and some like. I figure though it won't go back to the way it was, so I'll just have to live with it. Still, it proves a personal thought that not everything new is good.
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 21:49, Reply)
I've asked cr3
if we can have new/own post highlighting like the other boards... not sure if/when but that might help.
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 21:50, Reply)
I should do that really instead of whinging.
*goes off to do*

I use b3ta on my phone exclusively
and I actually find this layout much, much easier to follow, especially breaks in the conversation. From post counts since the change was made, it looks like it's encouraged considerably more posts in individual threads, so anything that helps people use it is a good thing :)
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 21:54, Reply)
One of my other problems is when using it at work
My computer doesn't have a particularly high resolution, so when there is more than 10 replies to a post, particularly the larger ones you get in OT, it gets squished up

Often
to
a
single
column
of
text
like
this.

And I have no idea how to force the browser to scroll sideways (which I hate doing too)
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 22:01, Reply)
Middle-click
and then move the cursor over to the right?

*been a long time since I've used M$ anything*
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 22:53, Reply)
Sorry, didn't make it that clear
I mean, force the browser to extend so it will scroll and come up with scrollbars instead of being a fixed wisth and forcing the text to bunch up
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 23:05, Reply)
Well it is sooooooooooooo important that we are like the other boards after all.
*sarcasms*
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 22:27, Reply)
Yes
yes it is.
*deadpans*
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 23:37, Reply)
I don't like it at all
But then I'm not here much now I guess.
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 23:16, Reply)
No
No you aren't
*feels sad*
(, Sun 10 May 2009, 23:37, Reply)
Same here
I don't particularly like it either, but can live with it. I'm also barely here these days due to stupid work.

Plus I bet al doesn't care as much that I'm not here.

I agree with everyone
The long diagonal thread
turning
into
this
type
of
thi
ng
is even worse on my mobile, but frankly if it's reached that stage it's usually just a couple of dicks who think they're funny. You're not missing anything scrolling past.
