People who refuse to be persuaded by reason
or accept that your greater knowledge of a subject means that your opinion counts for more.
These are the same people who will go "well that's just your opinion"
Yes it's my opinion, but I have spent the last 5 mins explaining why I've formulated that opinion based on logic and reason. All of your counter-arguments (usually very flimsy) have been shot down in flames. You've agreed that my reasoning is correct, you've sometimes even agreed with what I've said, you've offered nothing to counter that, so PLEASE accept that perhaps you should rethink YOUR opinion.
What you shouldn't do (unless you're trying to piss me off) is go "yeah well, that's just your opinion". Or worse "well i dunno, it's just what I believe", please rethink your assumptions.
This brings me onto the majority of Boris Johnson supporters that I've come across since the worst thing to happen to our fair capital since the Blitz.
I am happy to accept that there are Boris supporters out there who have well founded, rational, reasons for supporting him. I may not agree with you but at least you've put some effort in.
What bugs me is all you cretin's who support him blindly (made worse by the fact that I'm studying out of London so the majority aren't affected by it so don't even have a vague knowledge of what the mayor does, let alone the issues surrounding the election).
They're the ones who cheered when they heard he one and then refused to join me in a debate about the merits of him winning. If you care enough to cheer why don't you know the first thing about him? And just because he acts like a buffoon doesn't mean he's secretly a genius. Just because he says outragously offensive things, doesn't mean he's a crusader for the truth. What it usually comes down to is your daddy votes conservative and you've been too fucking lazy to create your own political views.
*Breathes deeply*
But then again, it's their opinion. Apparently that means it counts as much as mine despite a complete lack of knowledge of the area.
Length? Write a post about it being your pet peeve.

I agree with you entirely
Although I am on the opposite side of the coin. I'm more of a Boris woman, but I know exactly why I am.
I despise people who only have a politcial opinion because it's fashionable, because Michael Moore, Channel 4 and the BBC say so.

It was all going good...
Until you reached the Boris Johnson supporters.
As one myself, i would like to apologise on behave of the half-wits which you have seemed to have encountered. I'd also like to add the comment that you get those supports everywhere. Only yesterday i had a very devout Ken supporter jamming her views down my throat. I didn't approach her and tell her that she's wrong, so why should she?
I'm a conservative out of choice, my whole family support labour, and i made the choice against that. Just look at what they've done to our country. We're now just another nanny state like america. It's unfortunate. Also, you pointed out that "the worst thing to happen to our fair capital since the Blitz." yet, you gave no evidence? Why?
I think Boris has much more character, potential and he is more in tune with what this country actually needs, that being said i respect your opinion and i wouldn't ram my down your throat.
Thanks.
edit: I agree with the above post, also.

boris
I gave no evidence because this isn't a political forum and therefore not the place to get into an in depth discussion on London politics.
Also the "worst thing since the blitz" thing might have come slightly out of being angry. I don't want to get into a technical discussion on whether the 'winter of discontent' was actually worse, allow me some poetic licence.
EDIT: And on the point of fuckwits being on both sides of the coin. True, very true. But
they're alot more bareable when they agree with you. Again this is true for both sides of the argument.
EDIT EDIT: On fuckwit Ken supporters, if one more of you tells me that this whole "buffoon" thing is an act I'll hit you. Everyone know Boris is cleverer than he looks, this isn't the revelation you seem to think it is.

That's fair enough, i'd totally agree and once again, fair enough on the poetic licence ;)
I had to laugh at the last edit, well done. Personally, i'm a Boris supporter, but at the end of the day they're just politicians and can they really be trusted?
*dusts hands* now the world is set to right's we can go and have a pint and be done with it =)

I always say, there are two types of opinion, one is valid, one is not,
valid opinions are reasoned and can be argued with examples and analogies and such, invalid opinions 'Just are, OK!?' and are usually argued by threat and repetition.
I will listen to any of the former, I will not remotely entertain the latter, and will frequently ignore anyone who shows any sign of being such a prick as I really do just lose all respect for anyone like that.
It's OK to just believe something just 'cos it feels right to you, we all have those, it's called personal preference, but not OK to think that that makes it a valid opinion or qualifies you to impose that belief upon others. It just doesn't, it's your belief and that is all and I am not you, sorry.

Agree totally...
I'm studying A level philosophy and ethics - not because it's a doss subject or it looks good on a job application, but because I genuinely enjoy the subject. One of the things I like about it is that before you be taken seriously, you have to formulate a sensible, reasoned argument. As I often have quite unusual/debatable views, I've got very good at the logical argument side of things.
Not that this cuts any ice with the parents.
I have a swiss army knife that I use fairly often. The only catch is that the blade isn't that great. So the other day, I mention that I fancied getting (with my own money) a decent knife.
"NO! They're too dangerous!"
So off I go. I find all the stats, all the facts and figures to show that driving is far more dangerous than knives. I point out the carving knives in the kitchen, the sickle in the garage, the fact that I own a miniature blowtorch (don't ask) for god's sake.
"NO! I don't want a knife in this house!"
The worst part is, my mum has a PHD in biochemistry. You'd think she'd be at least a bit logical, but no. This is a woman who thinks you can get drunk on one shot of vodka.
