This is a question Your first cigarette

To be honest, inhaling the fumes from some burning leaves isn't the most natural thing in the world.
Tell us about the first time. Where, when, and who were you trying to show off to?

Or, if you've never tried a cigarette, tell us something interesting on the subject of smoking.

Personally, I've never ever smoked a cigarette. Lung damage from pneumonia put me off.

Puns.
Sorry, perhaps this really isn't in the spirit of things, but:
RHYMING A WORD WITH ONE OR TWO WORDS FROM THE QUESTION DOES NOT A PUN MAKE.

Perhaps from now on I shall be shunned by one and all, but surely there are others here who despise the punnery as much as I do?

But.
From Wikipedia - A pun (or paronomasia) is a phrase that deliberately exploits confusion between similar-sounding words for humorous or rhetorical effect.

So, surely rhyming your phrase wth part of the title of the QOTW to humorous effect does in fact make a pun. Now, as to whether you like them or not, that's a separate issue.

Pun -a play on words alike or nearly alike in sound but different in meaning.

It's ok to be upset
just because you can't think of any.
I hate them too, but it's not like there's anything better to do!

Yes, "for humorous or rhetorical effect", which is more than simply rhyming.

but the humour
Is derived from the fact that the rhyme is "unexpected" (a term I use in its loosest possible form with regards to the puns normally found here) i.e. you expect the story to be about the title of the QOTW, but lo and behold, it's about something that sounds like it and is therefore funny.

@al
- funny
+ slightly more amusing than reading basically the same story for the billionth time.

I just think it might encourage the qotw gods to put up a new question quicker.

They should have TWO qotws.

Whilst I'm ranting I should say this has been a particularly boring question, perhaps its hard to follow something that was as well received as the "Nerdiness" question, but honestly how exciting could a story about a first cigarette be?

I had been going to make an intelligent contribution to...
...this serious discussion about wordplay. However, my vegetable based clothing started to play up, as it regularly does in the middle of the week, and let in the water which drips from the roof.

In the evening, I end up having to put it in the washing machine at high speed to get the water out.

Yes - my Vest-Onion often leaks, needing spun on Wet-end-days.

@Boar....
purely out of interest, does 'living it up greek style' mean bumming boys and marrying your mum? -no offense, I just want to know!
(, Wed 26 Mar 2008, 16:42, closed)
Bert...
Oh, I hadn't really thought about it like that. I haven't bummed any boys just yet, but I've only been here a couple of years, I imagine these things take time..

That sort of behaviour is for fridays. Today is strictly for wanking.

Oi!
We all know that's just a euphenism. That's your second warning. And leave your mum alone.

But my Mum likes it!
You're just jealous, and I'm only living up to my name!
