This is a question Waste of money

I once paid a small fortune to a solicitor in a legal case. She got lost on the way to court, turned up late with the wrong papers and started an argument with the judge, who told her to "shut up, for the love of God". A stunning investment.

Thanks to golddust for the suggestion

I was conned..
.. back when I was 17. I was on my merry way back from college when some fellas stopped in a van and told me they had been given too many packages to deliver. They had two that weren't on the list of deliveries that day. Turns out these packages were German branded "top end studio monitors".

Not quite sure why I wanted them or where I would put them.. I think it was because it had a 'liquid cooled tweeter', which just sounded cool to me at the time. I said "Alright, how much?", "£100 for the pair" .. Shit, I only had £50 hanging about to last me the month, so I said no. "Well how about you buy one then? We'll give you a lift home too". For reasons that I still to this day cannot understand I said "Oh, alright then!" .. I handed them over fifty notes, hopped in, they unloaded the speaker and pissed off.

It wasn't till I took it out the box, sat down, looked at it and thought "What the shitty arse clangers am I going to do with 1 speaker and no amp?". A little bit of research shows that this "high-end studio monitor" was actually a complete piece of fucking shit and I had indeed been fucked in the arse, giving two random fellas their drinks money for the night.

I'm 22 and it's still in the loft.. It reminds me every time I go up there how much of a stupid twat I was.

Cheers!

Yep! Never heard of it until it happened
I went for the MTS ones. Doesn't make me any less of a twat for buying one though! Could at least have a matching scammy pair of them.

You got off pretty lightly
If you never get ripped off again for the rest of your life, that was £50 well spent.

During my 2nd year at uni (1997), there was a white van cruising around campus trying to flog "awesome" speakers. They were quite aggressive and I even had to call the useless campus security (I saw them laughing & joking with the arseholes later on). I knew someone who gave them £400 for a pair of speakers that turned out to be shit.

I had friends at other uni's around the country, and they had white van stories to tell as well.

Hoooooly shit.
£400 eh? I definitely got off lightly then.

Don't tend to see the white van lot around so much. I'll know to tell them where they can shove their liquid cooled tweeter next time.

Avoid them like the plague
the ones that hassled me a few times were very aggressive, wanted me to get in the van so they could drive me to a cash point and became aggressive and abusive when I told them I wasn't interested.

For a couple of months I jumped every time I saw a white transit van. Cunts.

Most conmen do
when they get turned down, or they realise you're onto them.

Good job I didn't piss them off before I got in the van. I might of had an involuntary fucking up my tweeter in the back.

That's unusual
we used to fuck off sharpish if people weren't interested, total waste of time bullying people. Must have been a different firm.

this of it as a £50 lesson in how to not getter ripped off again
it comes with a free speaker.

Superb idiocy there buddy.
One speaker, that is defintely a new twist on an old story.

A pal of mine giddily called me a few years back explaing this very story, so i stopped him and said, please tell me you never fucking them...he did, and he paid £300, i didn't even stifle my laughs. thing was we were going camping with a generator and amp and all that a few weeks later, so he brought them along, and although the were floorstanders, my battery powered Sony speakers had better musicality. The stupid fucking things blew my beloved NAD 314 amp as well, the MDF arsebandits.
