Walking back to the ship from the seaman's clubI was in Naples on a merchant ship. A colleague and I were walking back to the ship from the seaman's club, when out of an alley stepped a small Italian thug, he showed us his knife, my shipmate showed the thug a .30 caliber semi-automatic pistol, the thug ran back into the alley.
Apparently, my shipmate had been mugged in Spain some years before and always carried a gun, when he went ashore.
Moral: Never bring a knife to a gunfight.
