This is a question "You're doing it wrong"

Chthonic confesses: "Only last year did I discover why the lids of things in tubes have a recessed pointy bit built into them." Tell us about the facepalm moment when you realised you were doing something wrong.

Just today...
I was chainsawing down a couple of large palm trees. My wife was worried they were too big for me to handle but I showed her my method of cutting a wedge out near the base, then knocking the wedge out so the tree falls in the direction you want. Only it didn't. Instead it fell the opposite way and crashed through the fence and wrecked the neighbours' clothes line. But not before it squished my hand between the fence and the tree. Ouch.
My wife is always right. I should listen to her.

Ok okay so this is pretty
pedantic, but 'your' method? AFAIK this method is as old as the hills! I've been using it for at least 15 years and my father the 45 years before that!

Jesus ... REALLY?
The fact that he referred to it (correctly) as "my" method winds you up??

Incidentally, it was actually his method, as it was the method he was using, and he could have discovered it himself.

It didnt
wind me up at all, I was just being pedantic.

Not very well, you weren't, but top marks for enthusiasm.

Oh...
...I didn't mean I invented it. Perhaps I should have written "the tried and trusted method" for the easily confused.
But I didn't. So I guess I did that wrong too. Boy, am I gutted...
