My guess...the Daleks have always been a fucking knob to make, operate, n maintain, they cost a feckin bomb and need 3 operators and an army of techies to keep the bastards moving, these are obviously way simpler to pop out a few hundred and stop those embarrassing 'Dalek army of 3' scenes and will be a piece of piss to keep lookin shiny n new. And plastic and crappy looking, but hopefully they'll grow on us...
I think Gatiss's original idea was a good one, just think the BBC props dept implementation of it was a tad overly simplistic, those neck bins for example are fucking awful, couldn't they at LEAST have put some netting or something inside to stop them being so obviously empty!? And where's all the metal n bolts!? They look like a strong wind would blow 'em over!
