Aircraft testing was generally done in remote farming areas. When the pilots (frequently) crashed, the US Air Force generally had to compensate the Farmewr for any damaged crops/buildings/livestock etc, meaning that most pilot deaths resulted in a farmer getting a large wedge of cash.

The brine shrimp they feed off in the wild are full of hematite, and other iron compounds. Chester zoo has a bunch of grey flamingoes, and they dont half look dull.
