# Not a ghost sighting, more of a ghost 'hearing' and a ghostly scent.
A few years ago, my Gran (on Mum's side) died and my wife and I went to Oxford for her funeral along with my sister and my mum.

After the funeral everyone went back to Gran & Grandad's for the wake before finally heading back home late that evening. Now, we split up en-route - mum and my sister went back to my sister's house and my wife and I continued homewards... The spookyness started when we got home.

As we got home we noticed that the house was warmer than usual - the sort of temperature that Grand's place used to be at and there was also a gentle smell of lavender throughout the house. Now, Gran & Grandad grew a huge lavender bush by their front door and Lavender was one of Gran's favourite scents.

Most spooky of all, was the fact that there was an answerphone message on our answering machine, which had been left at the start of the funeral service. This answerphone message was the first 5 minutes of the service with the same classical music that was played.

Now, maybe you'd think that maybe someone had their mobile phone turned on and managed to accidentally dial our home phone number, therby recording the start of the service?

Well, no sooner than we had finished listening to the message than the phone rang.

It was my sister, freaking out because her house was warmer than normal, lavender scented and there was a 5 minute message on her answer phone as well.

No sooner than she hung up, than it was my Mum's turn to call. Warm house, lavender scent, same message on the phone....

We compared notes and they were all the same message. 3 people, 3 mobiles, accidentally ringing 3 different phones at exactly the same time? I don't think so! We all decided that it was actually Gran's way of saying goodbye.
