Yup.It's one of those 'big subject' films like Elephant that take this askance approach. It's nice not to have to stare down the barrel of a loaded LIfe of David Gale, but a little slicing and dicing would have been nice to make the film a little leaner and more explicit. LIke the old man said, 'Take a rock and carve away anything that isn't walrus'. Hope somebody gets that.
