Actually, this is a narrow inner city passagepart of the old section. The outer areas are really modern. As for the location, it's in the lower part of the "toe" of the Netherlands.
Edit: which brings me to a bit of a gripe about the city structure...the local government refuses to properly asphalt the inner city which is still paved with cobblestones, leading to a seriously bumpy bicycle ride into town.

if you can't afford a bike with suspension,try deflating your tyres by about 5 psi, might help...
The place I used to live in Norway had an 'old town' with cobbled streets, they can be a bit of a nightmare.
