but shouldnt the little sod have been in school? He started off in November, his dad followed in another boat so obviously didnt have to work.

Poor kid is off school for 2 months & its truancy.
As I mentioned, i'm just jealous that I didnt get such an opportuniy at 14.

and lets face it, if you are that good at this boating larky 2 months off doing something that will give your career a massive boost is a small price to pay.

I wouldnt have got permission from my Comprehensive, the careers advisors never gave me the option of being Hornblower.
I just hate the fact that no matter how hard you work, how clever you are, how many qualifications you get, it doesnt really matter.
I once met a man who had a PhD in Biochemistry & he had to get a second job in McDonalds, cancer research didnt pay as well.
