1948: Harry Corbett purchases a bear glove puppet at Blackpool pier for 7s 6d to entertain his children
1952: Harry, an amateur magician, and Sooty, the puppet make their first appearance on the BBC's Talent Night television program.
1967: The BBC cancels The Sooty Show. Sooty changes to Thames Television and ITV.
1964: Soo, Sooty's panda bear girlfriend, makes her first appearance. It is decreed that Soo and Sooty aren't allowed to touch, so that children won't get the wrong idea.

some time in the 50s, my mum sent off for a sooty puppet after saving many pennies. she was incredibly disappointed when it came back orange and black. she expected it to be grey. bless.
