Although its successor, the Archimedes, most definately was (and Acorn won a law suit against Apple to prove it).

my mistake...
a friend had both to play on as his dad worked in resarch for BT. Even had a robotic arm attached to it!

it was a Z80 based
processor, wasn't it?
edit - no, it was a 6502 i think.. i was thinking of the spectrum...

I'm not certain it was
the Apple ][ was definitely a 6502, but I can't remember for sure about the BBC.
