# Well
No-one's suggesting that the conditions don't exist. The point is that they appear to be over-diagnosed at the moment. For example, a kid can do anything he wants, claim he's got ADHD and actually get special preferential treatment because of it, whereas not so many years back they're just a naughty kid who gets the clip round the earhole that they deserve! Jeez, I'm too young to be this disillusioned....

# It does seem to be that way
The current situation in this country seems to that there has to be something or (ideally) someone to blame for anything and everything. If a child's playing up it's ADHD, not that they're misbehaving as you say. And there are no greedy people anymore - only eating disorders and irresponsible advertising. That isn't to say that eating disorders don't exist, far from it; but it feels like the parents in this country expect teachers/doctors/councellors etc. to be responsible for the way their children mature. Before TV and the interweb started bombarding parents with worries about various conditions, they had to make judgments for themselves about how a child should/should not behave, and I think this was done very well. This isn't the case anymore.
