They would've been hand-picked by the Beeb in order of thickness. Happens everywhere the beeb go, which is why 'important people' are always reading documents using a pen and people who've been bereaved recently are always looking at pictures whilst being interviewed. Next to a nice table lamp.

You only see couples walking in the park if one of the spouses has been in the tabloids for shagging around, doctors are always interviewed at their desks and Andrew Marr's always outside number 10 mostly, etc etc. It's like the Beeb's gone thru ISO9001 for presentation and everything gets done the same way no matter what :)
